Retiring - BIRD BALLAD DESIGNER SERIES PAPER

OK....I will admit that I am a bit obsessed with the scrappy strip technique. But see what beautiful cards you can make!

Maybe it's because I am a quilter, so straight lines and right angles make me happy.

The soft colors of this pretty card come from the Bird Ballad Designer Series paper.

The pretty, handcut flowers are from the current Free As A Bird Stamp set. The leaves are stamped from the Painted Harvest set and punched out with the Leaf Punch - both are retiring.

The verse is from Kindness and Compassion, which is also retiring.

Basic instructions on how I made the card are at the end of the post.

 BIRD BALLAD DSP
149592

 KINDNESS & COMPASSION
151342

 LEAF PUNCH
144667

PAINTED HARVEST STAMP SET
144783

Basic instructions:

Basic Black layer 4" x 5 1/4"
Basic Black Cardbase 5 1/2" x 8 1/2" scored at 4 1/4"
Black Strip 5 1/4" x 1 1/4"
Whisper White Strip 5 1/4" x 1"
DSP strips 1" wide, varying lengths

I suggest placing DSP strips on the 4" x 5 1/4" piece first and adjusting the placement before adhering.

Place the first strip from upper left corner to a little left of the bottom right corner, then place the second strip to right of first strip, leaving an even gap so the black shows through. Strips should go beyond the edge of the black piece and will be trimmed off later.

Place strips at right angles on both sides of first two strips, leaving even gaps. Continue until piece is covered. Once you are happy with the placement, adhere strips to Basic Black layer.

Turn over and trim off strip ends. Adhere to top of cardbase.

Stamp verse on Whisper White strip and adhere to Basic Black strip. Adhere to card.

The flowers are from Free as a Bird stamp set and are stamped with Memento Black, colored with Pool Party, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight Stampin' Blends then cut out by hand. The leaves are from the Painted Harvest stamp set and are stamped in Mossy Meadow onto Old Olive cardstock and punched out with the Leaf Punch.
