HYCCT cards

Think P.I.N.K.  I know, you're saying she's lost her mind - there's no pink in that card.  You're right.  In this challenge we were to "think pink" differently - to create a card using products, images, sentiments or techniques that begin with the letters P, I, N and K.  Can you figure out what I did?  P = Perfect Plum cardstock, I = "I'm here for you...", N = Naturals Ivory cardstock, K = knot.

The PINK RIBBON is definitely a strong, powerful and well-known symbol for Breast Cancer awareness and has become such a universal symbol of support.  This challenge was to simply use a PINK RIBBON on our card or project.

This challenge, called "Paint Your Heart Out", was inspired by the designer's grandmother who was an incredible artist.  She painted on canvas, on walls, on boxes, on sets for plays with the community theater group, on faces, the list goes on and on.  She's also a breast cancer survivor!  So in honor of her, paint was required on this project.  Any type of paint, such as acrylics, watercolors, shimmer paints, etc.  I love to watercolor, so I chose to paint a colorful sunset.
The designer of this challenge tells a very powerful story.  Her mother, who passed away in 1992 from breast cancer, left behind six sisters.  Of those, four have been through the fight and three are considered survivors.  Only one sister continues her battle and she has been battling for nearly NINE years!  Breast cancer touched her family to the degree that her cousin and his wife both went to school to do cancer research and now they are teaching doctors at Colorado State University!

Purple is the color for survivors.
